I supplement with collagen everyday for my skin, hair, nails, teeth, joints, immune system and gut health. I drink collagen broth and use collagen powder. Collagen is highly nutritious and is made up of four different amino acids. Collagen is a combination of glycine, proline, hydroxyproline, and arginine. These amino acids help provide the structure of our hair, skin, nails, bones, ligaments, tendons, and gut lining. As we age our body's collagen manufacturing begins to decrease. Collagen production begins to decrease at the age of 25 and by the age of 30 we can can not only feel the effect of decreased collagen but we can begin seeing it with less supple skin and the beginnings of fine lines and wrinkles.
I make my own collagen broth and I add collagen powder to my morning coffee. There is scientific evidence of skin improvement indicating that collagen supplementation could be an effective remedy to improve hydration, elasticity, and wrinkling in skin. There are plenty of great reputable brands of broth to buy but I enjoy making my own and it only takes two hours using an Instant Pot. Check out my recipe here.
If you haven't yet tried adding collagen to your daily routine, you may want to begin. I noticed improvements almost immediately. I noticed tummy improvements first. My constipation issues- 100% gone. About 2-3 months after beginning supplementing with collagen, I noticed vast improvements in my hair, nails, skin and my joint pain disappeared. I've always struggled with thin, brittle hair with awful splint ends. My hair is now thicker and healthier than it has ever been. My skin is brighter, clearer and the dark spots from pregnancy are gone. My nails are stronger and no longer break and split. My joints no longer hurt even after I do Burn Boot Camp. My knees no longer crack and pop when I do squats!! Try it and give it a few months. I would love to know if you can see or feel a difference. What do you have to lose besides maybe some of those fine lines and joint pain?
